Grew up as a preacher’s son, gay, in the US. Saw a friend knit 3D and realized knitting can be used for sculpture making. Men working with knitting/crocheting was seen as queer, to challenge that, he started knitting ‘manly’ things, and started knitting in public, wanting to make his feelings about masculinity and femininity easy to understand for audiences.
